When first walking into Noor Arfa Craft Complex, you’ll be greeted by their friendly staff. Overwhelmed you wouldn’t know where to go to first thankfully the staff will the guide you and recommend you to go to is the demonstration area. There you’ll witness a batik demonstration. A guide will be there to explain to you the process of making batik. There won’t be just one demonstration of batik and crafts but four different types of demonstrations. The first demonstration will be the stamped batik or batik block. Next, the hand drawn batik,  you’ll witness face to face the process and work put into the batik and crafts there. After that is the weaving, the Terengganu songket’s weaving using it’s own traditional style and last but not least is the one and only glass sculpting demonstration in Terengganu. Art & Craft Demonstration

Handblocked Batik

The tools and materials that were used while processing Handblocked Batik includes Batik Stamp/Block, White Plain Cloth, Colouring, Sodium Silicate, Soda Ash, Table, White Candles, Rosin, Oil, Glass Plastic, Colour Brush.

Using patterns and design that was inspired by these elements :-

  • Floral
  • Fauna
  • Geometri
  • Abstrak

Batik Canting

The tools and materials that were used while processing Batik Canting includes Canting, White Candles, White Plain Cloth, Coloring, Soda Ash, Sodium Silicate, Colour Brush, Fine Wire, Rubber Band, Frame Batik Canting.

Using patterns and design that was inspired by these elements :-

  • Floral
  • Fauna
  • Geometri
  • Abstrak

Songket Weaving

The tools and materials that were used while Weaving Songket includes Cotton Thread, Metalic Thread, Rayon Thread, Nylon Thread, Graph Paper, Scissors, Belira, Sumbi, Pesa, Pasung, Torak, Pelenting, Anak Geliging, Gigi Gentera, Kayu Gantung Karat, Kayu Pijak Karat, Kayu Gantung Karat, Weaving Kek.

Using the infamous Malay Traditional Songket Terengganu Design and pattern such as Pucuk Rebong , Bunga Pecah Lapan, Bunga Cengkih, Tapak Manggis, Awan Larat, Bunga Tanjung, Tampuk Buah Kesemak, Bunga Kekwa, Daun Inai, Bunga Kenanga and much more.

Glass Sculpting

The tools and materials that were used for glass sculpting includes Didymium Glasses, Blow Touch, Glass Stick(Pyrex & Soda Glass), Tweezers, Oxygen Tank, LPG Tank.

Batik Block's Drafting

The tools and materials that were used while drafting Batik Block includes Zinc or Copper Sheets, Iron Scissors, Cutter, Soldering Tool, Nail Wire, Lead, Baker Soldering Fluid, Coneng, Jangka, Claw Hammer, Warrington Hammer​, Ruler, Tapered Nose Pliers​, Lineman’s Pliers​, Wood Board​.

Using patterns and design that was inspired by these elements :-

  • Geometri
  • Abstrak

Do It yourself!

Don’t forget that here at Batik Pavilion, we also have ‘Do It Yourself !’ (DIY)  batik kit that were specially made for the kids so that kids can learn to paint their very own batik. As for the adults, don’t worry because we also have the adult version of batik kit and additionally you also can make your own canting batik or try out the stamped batik to gain experience of batik making yourself !
